As you know from this blog post, earlier this month we headed to Wynn Las Vegas in the US for the Magento Imagine 2018 conference. During the conference, the winners of the 2018 Excellence Awards were announced and we are delighted to announce we brought the award for Best Web Experience home for The Daily Edited ‘s Magento 2 site build.
The TDE Project was one of our greatest achievements to date. We collaborated with Alyce and her team on all aspects of the build, from how she wanted to manage her fulfilment to how she imagined her customers interacting with the products. Taking Alyce’s wishlist on board, we set about making it happen using custom development on the Magento 2 platform to make her vision come to life.
Being recognised for our joint success by Magento has been an incredible motivation for our dedicated team of designers, developers and project managers, all of whom were thrilled to hear the news straight from the Award Ceremony where our Director Sean Pieres collected the award on Alyce’s behalf.
You can read more about the project and results Alyce and her team saw post launch on Magento’s blog here:
We caught up with our Director Sean to find out some of the things which peaked his interest while he was in Las Vegas at this year’s Imagine Conference.
Sean! Welcome back, how’s the jet lag?
Not too bad! I headed to New York after the conference for some R&R and ended up visiting a few really cool fashion spaces. I went to The Apartment by The Line which gave me some great ideas for some of our clients who have showrooms around Australia and also for our upcoming office move. We also went to visit TDE’s Showroom which was great, especially after they won the award – there was such a buzz around the whole thing.
So tell us all about Imagine. What was the venue like?
The conference was at Wynn Las Vegas and the venue was epic. The hotel had everything you could ask for, amazing food, great spaces and full of really inspiring people.
There were some great networking sessions mixed in with the keynote speakers so the venue really lent itself to that which was awesome.
Can you give us a brief overview of what Magento covered for their roadmap?
Well there was a lot to take in! Some of the key things which stuck with me were the talks on progressive webapps and the new standard which Google will be expecting for the mobile experience and the new MailChimp strategy. We also got a sneak preview of Magento 2.3 and some of the features they’re working on for that, thing such as better content management, instant purchasem page builders, multi-source inventory and better security are all major features for merchants to look out for which will do wonders for ecommerce. 2.2.4 is ready too so we saw the whole feature list. 2.2.4 has a super enhanced payment experience with AmazonPay, Vertex and Klarna all included. We’re working on something pretty exciting at MindArc at the moment which we’ll be releasing more details on soon, so watch this space.
And finally, highlight of the conference?
It’s so hard to say! I have to say, listening to Jamie Foxx talk was really inspiring, he’s so charismatic and had some incredible insights on leadership. Check out Magento’s post on that here.
